Immortal Beloved

1994

Gary Oldman, Jeroen Krabbe, Isabella Rossellini, Johanna ter Steege, Valeria Golino

What a beautiful film!

Immortal Beloved tells the story of the magnificant composer Ludwig van Beethoven (Oldman). He has just passed away and a mysterious letter has been found that leaves his entire wealth and estate to his "immortal beloved". His friend and secretary, Schindler (Krabbe) decides that he must find this mystery woman and sets out on a journey to find her....it is not easy. Beethoven was a womaniser. He also did not have many friends as he was almost completely deaf and this caused him to appear rude and aloof.

I can't say anything else about the plot as it will give it away.

The acting is superb and i know i know i keep saying it but i absolutly LOVE Gary Oldman's eyes . So full of emotion. He portrayed Beethoven perfectly even down to the smallest mannerisms....I really did feel sorry for him over the being deaf issue. People were not as accomodating back then.

The woman were all beautiful  and the scenery and costumes were breathtaking and i really don't need to say how beautiful the music is.

Absolutly lovely film and i recommend it to everyone. I was in tears by the end, and i am not one who cries very easily. The ending was heartbreaking.
